sports law.jpgThe Thomas M. Cooley Sports Law Society's primary purpose is to provide a forum whereby interested students and faculty members can discuss contemporary sports issues. These topics include ethics in athlete representation and other current legal issues relating to the sports industry.

The Sports Law Society supports local organizations like the Lansing Habitat for Humanity. Many members donate hours each semester.  The Sports Law Society also donates to charitable organizations and helps out at local sports and entertainment events.  We also work in correspondence with the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research and hosting a 3 v 3 basketball tournament proceeds going to the foundation.

The Society's social activities include attending various professional sporting events, Lansing Lugnut's Games, Michigan State athletics, and participating in Cooley intramural sports.

The Society has developed many relationships with sports attorneys locally and across the country.  Each year a group of members attend the annual SLA Sports Lawyers Association Conference, and many other conferences nationwide. This is a great opportunity for members to make connections and contacts and hear the experiences of legal experts in the field of sports and entertainment law.

For those interested in joining, the membership fee is $25 for one year. If you have any further questions contact Zak, kurtzz@cooley.edu or Ryan, coneyr@cooley.edu
